Personal Experience
I’m Mandy, I am a born and bred Chorley lass . I was brought up at my parent’s kennels, cattery and stables business and went on to train as a veterinary nurse. I left the profession to raise my family and worked as the Senior Science Technician at a high school which suited my family commitments at that time.
I retrained as a veterinary nurse in 2015 and then did some locum work for Chorley Vets.
I returned to my family’s business for a few years as a kennel maid and groomer to help out, whilst multiple staff members were on maternity leave.
Transferrable Skills
Once the maternity leave was over, I noticed a vacancy at Chorley Vets as a receptionist, so due to the long break in my Veterinary Nursing membership, I decided to apply for the position, (rather than retraining again as a nurse, partly due to my age/ commitments at that time.) at least that way I would still be involved in the Veterinary profession which I love.
I started as a receptionist in 2020 and since then I have moved into the administration department.
I live with my husband and in our spare time we enjoy spending time with our grandchildren and also motorcycle riding.
In my spare time I enjoy drawing portraits of people or animals.
I was recently asked to decorate the walls at Chorley Vets with drawings of the various species of pet which we routinely see, so if you do pop in, please take a look at some of my work spaced around the waiting areas.
